Si Gung Kong Hoi

Kong Hoi started to learning the art of Lai Tung Pai from his father on his 10th birthday. Three years later, due to the invasion of China by the Japanese, Kong Ki took the whole family from Kwantung to Kwangsi. After World War II was over, they returned to Kwangtung where Kong Hoi resumed his training.

Kong Hoi did not train in Lai Tung exclusively. When he was 17, he tried Wing Chun, Hung Kuen and Tai Chi Chuan. However, his heart was always with Lai Tung. His father respectfully requested that the Abbott Fa Hoi teach him the art of Lai Tung at the Hoi Tung Monastery. Si Gung nothing but clean, sweep and other chores for six months. After earning the right to study through diligence and respect of his Sifu, the Abbott began his training of Kong Hoi. Kong Hoi had to start from the very beginning. Fa Hoi corrected all the wrong movements and slowly molded Kong Hoi into a great Lai Tung practitioner.

Si Gung Hoi is widly known in the Hong Kong Kung Fu community and is a member of the Hong Kong Kung Fu Association, actually ranked number 2, and is the only one of four of the great kung fu masters of Hong Kong still living today. He has trained thousands of students, as well as at one time before he retired, the officers of the Hong Kong Police Department. He is also a well respected Chinese Medicine physician. He was the first registered doctor of Chinese Medicine to be registered with the Hong Kong Government.

Si Gung Hoi is a very down to earth kind of instructor. He is also a no nonsense instructor yet he has a great sense of humor. He totally opposes the use of violence. One of his favorite teachings on the use of violence is this, "to kill 10,000 enemies, one must bear the loss of 3000." It highlights the futility of violence even when the upper hand is attained; the end result is that both parties suffer.
